KONZA TECHNOLOGY CITY builds upon an existing masterplan to create an ecologically and culturally sensitive greenway and streetscape design. Focusing on one large plaza area, the design integrates an event space, an open air market, and a greywater feature threading the central transportation spine and adjacent greenway. Part of the larger Kenya Vision 2030 project to advance technology growth and spending to improve prosperity and quality of life in Kenya, the project acknowledges the importance of responding to local climate and available materials with details such as native stone paving and drought-tolerant planting. The garden walk celebrates the rich botanical pallete of the nearby Rift Valley while the geologic formation of the region also acts as a conceptual driver for the design.
